MIXED DANCE (5 - 10 Yrs) (Jazz & Tap) Wed 3.20 - 4pm; Fri 3.30 - 4.10pm; Sun 6pm - 6.30pm Group lessons for 5 to 10 year olds This class incorporates a mix of tap dancing and jazz dancing to cater for those wishing to learn both styles of dance during one attendance. The introduction to singing of songs and drama will also be included on a very small scale. The classes run for 40 minutes. Where necessary, the tutor may need to amalgamate groups or divide groups to suit the level of the pupils as pupils become more advanced. Group lessons are charged as "Course Fee". Prior notification of absence may allow an alternative arrangements to be made at the discretion of the tutor.
Fri 6 - 6pm Other times avail. Group lessons for 8 to 12 year olds This class incorporates a mix of jazz dancing and hip-hop to cater for those wishing to learn both styles during one attendance. Work taught includes barre, isolations, steps and partial/full routines The introduction to singing of songs and drama may also be included on a very small scale. The classes run for 30 minutes. Where necessary, the tutor may need to amalgamate groups or divide groups to suit the level of the pupils as pupils become more advanced. Group lessons are charged as "Course Fee". Prior notification of absence may allow an alternative arrangements to be made at the discretion of the tutor. INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC (30 minutes) Times available 8 to 10 years of age This is a specialised one term music course for children that will introduce them to some of the basics in music before beginning to learn a specific musical instrument. The course covers the introduction of sounds, tempo, counting, types of music notes, musical alphabet, ta-te system, rhythmical work using percussion instruments (drums, wooden blocks, castanets, tambourines etc.), identifying where notes are on the piano/keyboard, identifying playing positions on the piano/keyboard, learning to identify some treble notes, playing a simple melody on piano, learning the note values, introduction to basic scales, some musical games and also learning about a variety of musical instruments such as the piano, electronic keyboard, guitar and piano accordion and listening to a variety of styles of music from these instruments. These classes include work pages/booklets to reinforce the work being taught. After one term, a child will be able to play a simple melody (or or more!) on the piano/keyboard, read some treble notes and progress in following terms to expand their musical knowledge by either learning to play recorder, and/or learning to play piano and or electronic keyboard (from 5 years of age) or guitar (usually from 8 or 9 years of age). This Introduction to Music class is charged as a "Course Term Fee". Prior notification of absence may allow an alternative arrangements to be made at the discretion of the tutor.
INTERMEDIATE TAP DANCING (minimum 30 minutes) Classes will commence some time in the future when enough enrolments warrant starting a class. Class to be established. 8 to 12 year olds This class will will introduce pupils to the basic components of tap through barre work and centre components/steps to all types of fun music. It will also provide dancers with new steps and styles including American Tap and rhythms including slow, medium, latin and fast (buck) tempos. Pupils will be able to progress to advanced levels catering for all styles including Celtic Tap, Latin Tap, Waltz Tap plus much more! Where necessary, the tutor may need to amalgamate groups or divide groups to suit the level of the pupils and as more time slots become available through securing a suitable leased premise the option of attending more than one class per week will become available. A boys' tap class may be set up pending numbers, but may initially be required to attend a mixed gender class. This class is charged as a "Course Term Fee". Prior notification of absence may allow an alternative arrangements to be made at the discretion of the tutor.

Vacancies Sun 6.30-7pm Other days avail. 8 to 12 year olds Pupils will learn to read treble and bass notes, chords, scales and various accompaniment styles and rhythm patterns, programming (midi/sequencer). Initially the Bastien Books will be used as part of the overall progressive learning along with the integration of other music books or sheets. Pupils will progress to be able to adapt to piano playing if they so wish (either modern style and/or classical), or choose to learn more with regard to chords and accompaniments that the keyboard has to offer, thus using the Kenneth Baker keyboard books in conjunction with the Bastien books. Utilisation of sequencer recordings will also be taught when pupils attain a certain level of performance. Where necessary, the tutor may need to amalgamate groups or divide groups to suit the level of the pupils as pupils become more advanced. Group lessons are charged as "Term Fee". Prior notification of absence may allow an alternative arrangements to be made at the discretion of the tutor. Absences for individual lessons will require 48 hours notice or lesson will be charged.

Tues 4pm - 4.30pm 8/9 to 12 year olds Students will learn to identify and play various rhythm patterns and/or learn to read treble notes (melody) and basic chords. Group guitarists can complement melodies played by other musicians for specific items. Backing tapes and/or CD's and booklets will be available for purchase for individuals to practise to. Students will progress to various styles of accompaniment (including arpeggio picking styles), follow chord charts and learn barre chords as well as learning to transpose a song into a suitable key and learning to work out rhythms and chords used for a variety songs. Group lessons are charged as "Course Fee". Prior notification of absence may allow an alternative arrangements to be made at the discretion of the tutor. Absences require 48 hours notice or lesson will be charged.
DRUMS (INTRO TO RHYTHM PATTERNS) Group or individual tuition. (Maximum 6 to a group). Class to be established 8/9 to 12 year olds Students enrolling in this class will be required to bring their drum sticks. Although there will be no drums available at the venue until such time as a suitable venue is leased, learning the basic applications to the rhythm patterns will allow students to master the co-ordination required to play these rhythms. Backing music will be used to implement the rhythm patterns taught. It is not necessary to "own" a set of drums immediately, though practising on a set that a friend may have from time to time will add to the experience of getting used to a "real drum set" when applying your rhythm patterns. This class is charged as a "Course Term Fee". Prior notification of absence may allow an alternative arrangements to be made at the discretion of the tutor.
9/10 to 12 year olds Piano accordion is likely to be picked up easier if the individual has had some form of piano/keyboard training to start with. It requires an amount of co-ordination between the left and right hands and of course is difficult to "see" what you are playing. Lessons taught will include use of the bellows, reading treble and bass (and/or chords), suitable bass accompaniments applicable to the various rhythms available and bass runs.
