AIMS and BENEFITS of LEARNING to SING and ACT INTRODUCTION: Singing and acting (performing) in my view is part and parcel of general entertaining. You can be a great drummer or guitarist, but unless you can sing and project and sell to the audience (particularly in a band situation) then it may be the difference between a band's success or lack of success. Similarly in dancing, one may be the most clever dancer in the whole world, but, to put that dancer into an entertainment context, relies on other theatrical skills to accommodate the requirements for auditions for musicals and the like. The ability to entertain an audience through group singing (including harmony), solo songs (be it country music songs or theatrical songs and comedy items), acting in skits for entertainment, introducing items to the audience and much more - can be so much fun! Singing and acting will enhance your music and dance performances. Everyone has the ability to become all round performers through participation in these classes! PRIMARY AIMS To give all children and adults the opportunity of learning, understanding and gaining singing and acting skills within their ability, in order entertain, sing and perform as an individual or in a group situation, in a suitable environment. To extend each individual so they can perform to their fullest potential. To enhance each individual's learning through exposure to the various forms of family entertainment. (Eg: concerts/recitals) To provide opportunities for individuals to perform and achieve within their capabilities. To encourage individuals to be as good as any other within their own right. To teach in a way that will allow for all individuals to enjoy learning to sing, act and perform, no matter what their age or stage is! BENEFITS Gaining practical skills associated with singing, acting and performing. Gaining general understanding in order to apply practical skills that will benefit the audience. Becoming exposed to various styles of music and genre of music relative to general entertainment. Enhancing the ability to improvise. Learning skills associated with performance eg: projection, presentation, vocal and facial expression - which can reflect positively in all aspects of life Learning other skills associated with singing and acting such as basic walking, use of stage, steps and musical interludes. Gaining confidence and self esteem through theatrical participation and performance The enhancement of individual's abilities in other areas of learning outside of the performance arena. (eg: through family, social or education circles) Learning at your own pace. Self improvement. A sense of achievement. Learning to mix with others. Additional musical and dance experiences and opportunities. Enjoyment whilst learning. Participating in performances. Goal setting. Self discipline.
