Concerned with the Whole Child
Our Primary goal is total growth for the
developing child, and we are constantly aware of how the experiences of
music and movement foster growth in other areas: physical, emotional,
cognitive, language and social. The carefully integrated selection and
development of activities in every Kindermusik curriculum set the stage
for optimal learning experiences.
The Parent is the
Child's Greatest Educator
Parents are the most important people
in a young child's life. Children learn the most from their parents and
are most comfortable with their parents.
Preparing your child for success in school and life means including your
child’s first and important educator – you. As you participate in
every step of the learning process, you’ll see firsthand just how
essential Kindermusik is to your child’s growth.
Young children respond when something is fun and enjoyable. Over and
over they will repeat an activity, song, or musical game that they like.
In Kindermusik, this repetition creates opportunities to build and
extend an activity, which leads to the mastery of skills or the learning
of concepts.
The Kindermusik experience offers families the time and materials for
sharing and bonding and respects the need of the parent to be a vital
part of their child's learning experience!

The Kindermusik program is divided into four age groups catering for
children from birth to 7 years. Each curriculum enables us to focus on
activities that are developmentally appropriate for your child. Class
activities include lots of singing, circle dancing, story time,
movement, quiet time, listening, instrument exploration, finger rhymes
and action songs. These activities follow a clear class structure, also
incorporating a ‘hello’ song and a ‘goodbye’ song, enabling your
child to participate comfortably and confidently. Kindermusik
Foundations of Learning (FOLs) are explained along the way to highlight
the educational basis behind different activities.
On top of all the educational benefits for you and your child, you
will find that you come to class together to have FUN!

Kindermusik is a parent-focused program. We give you complete support
to share music with your child in class and to extend Kindermusik
activities at home with your child, even if you do not have any previous
experience with music. We provide you with a wonderful pack of high
quality At Home Materials. These packs differ for each age group and
include items such as CDs, story books, activity books, baby journals,
nursery banners and simple musical instruments. Using your At Home
Materials is a great way to involve other members of your family in your
child’s Kindermusik experience.
Of course, our Educators are fully licensed to teach the Kindermusik
program. They are vibrant and passionate about sharing their love of
music with young children and their families. They are also enthusiastic
about giving you further insight into your child’s development and how
you can help to stimulate their growth.

History
1960s: A group of music educators in West Germany develop "Musikalische
Fruherziehung," or music for the young child. The program helps
children experience the joy of learning music before beginning formal
music instruction. West Germany's community music schools provide the
program.
1970s: Due to growing popularity, the program is translated and
adapted for American families and renamed Kindermusik.
- Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, provides
classes for music educators to learn how to teach Kindermusik in the
United States.
1980s: Daniel Pratt, a Westminster faculty member and Fulbright
Scholar, begins working directly with Music Resources International (MRI),
the company that recruits, trains, and supplies Kindermusik educators
with curricula.
- Kindermusik is revised for a more culturally diverse audience. The
English version of the Kindermusik curricula and teaching method is
distributed worldwide.
1990s: MRI moves to Greensboro, North Carolina, and is renamed
"Kindermusik International, Inc."
2000s: Kindermusik International's 55 employees buy the privately
held company from its 96 investors.
Today: More than 5,000 licensed educators use the Kindermusik
curricula in 66 countries, reaching 1 million families.
Kindermusik International has more than 25 years of experience
creating curricula based on new and proven research in child
development. The award-winning books, CDs, games, and instruments
nurture skills in the whole child: cognitive, physical, social,
emotional, and language.
In a Kindermusik class, educators lead a group of parents and their
children through joyful activities, using music and movement. Parents
learn more about their child's unique developmental process, and the
shared learning experience creates a unique bond as the child associates
learning with fun, musical play.
The learning process continues at home, guided by specially designed
books, CDs, and games.
- Movement and dance activities improve coordination and balance.
- One-on-one parent and child interaction nurtures self-esteem.
- Music-making and music listening activities develop
self-discipline, as well as critical and creative thinking skills.
Kindermusik International also provides a license program to teach
Kindermusik. On their own, or partnered with community and national
organizations and businesses, educators provide classes in many
different settings including:
- Private studios
- Music studios
- Music stores
- Public and private schools
- Community centers
- Churches, schools, universities, and YMCAs
- Retirement communities
